I don't have the revenue numbers to hand, but there's an earnings call sometime next week where I guess stuff like that is discussed with investors now that Facebook is publicly traded.
In terms of how Facebook generates income, it more or less boils down to two streams –
Advertising: On the desktop site, we show a certain number of ads on most pages. Advertisers pay in a bidding system to display those ads to certain demographics. Payments / Credits: For developers on the Facebook Platform, there is a payments API which allows them to charge users for access to certain items within their game / App. Facebook doesn't determine the price or frequency of these charges, but it does take a percentage of the charge, currently 30%, similar to iOS in-app payments.
